Error "This patch does not apply to your system" for .msu file updates in Vista ?
Hi all, I've recently downloaded and tried to install the security update 958644 (MS08-067), a critical security patch for Conficker worm. I'm using the Windows Vista version, and whenever trying to run the file it gives the error message "This patch does not apply to your system". My version if Windows Vista Enterprise 32-bit edition with SP1 installed. Any guesses? I've seen this error coming up for other users when using any .msu update files in Vista, but haven't been able to get a concrete solution or reason behind this. Quick help appreciated.

Hi TechYogi,First of all verify if the patch is not installed on your system. You can do this by going to your configuration panel, and choose add / remove software. In the add / remove software box you have a check box show updates see that this box is checked. If you see the patch KB958644 the patch is already installed on your system. And no futher actions are required. If you don't see the patch in this list you might check if the language of the patch is the same as the language of windows vista. So if you go to the download site (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=18FDFF67-C723-42BD-AC5C-CAC7D8713B21&displaylang=en). To change the language from english to the language of your operating system.Does that solves your problem?
